Development and Validation of Knowledge Emotions Inventory: The Context of Pakistan’s Socio-Cultural Dispositions

This study was conducted to design and assess a Likert-type measure Knowledge Emotions Inventory in the context of Pakistan’s socio-cultural dispositions. The scale is named as Knowledge Emotions Inventory (KEI). 56 items were piloted on 200 undergraduate students from public sector universities in the Punjab, Pakistan. After analysis 50 items were finalized. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was employed to identify the underlying factors. Following the analysis, eight factors were identified in factor loadings. These factors were enjoyment (5 items), hope (5 items), pride (5 items), frustration (7 items), confusion (7 items), hopelessness (7 items), and boredom (7 items). Overall value of Cronbach’s Alpha was 0.946, with .806 to .939 alpha value range for each factor. Composite reliability and content validity, along with convergent and discriminant validity, was also examined. Knowledge Emotions Inventory was determined to be both reliable and valid. Knowledge Emotions Inventory can be used for assessing socio-cultural dispositions in academia.
