Personality traits, workplace satisfaction, and emotional intelligence (EI) are crucial factors for doctors in today’s healthcare environment. A doctor’s life is significantly influenced by their personality traits. One important aspect of emotional intelligence is the ability to make sound treatment decisions in a positive work environment. This study primarily aimed to examine how various personality traits impact doctors' job satisfaction and how this, in turn, relates to patient outcomes. Additionally, it sought to explore the relationship between doctors' emotional intelligence and their levels of job satisfaction. To achieve these objectives, a sample of 300 physicians from different hospitals in South Punjab, Pakistan, was selected using purposive sampling. Three assessment instruments were employed: the Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale, the Big Five Inventory, and the Workplace Satisfaction Scale. The findings revealed a strong association between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction within the framework of the Big Five personality traits. Furthermore, there was a high correlation between emotional intelligence and each of the five personality traits, all of which influenced job satisfaction levels. The study also found that different genders exhibited varying levels of job satisfaction. Overall, the results demonstrate a significant connection between doctors' emotional intelligence, their personality traits, and their job satisfaction. These insights could lead to improved outcomes for both doctors and their patients.
